Fundraiser Ferris Wheels and Nautical Nostalgia

I recently created this little spot illustration for a local non-profit that offers safe and affordable housing for family members of patients staying at the nearby hospital. They are hosting a fundraising event with a carnival theme, and my illustration will be used on the invitations they send out to guests. This version is a tad different than the final version that will be sent out, but it’s my favorite one that I created for them.

I was also asked to illustrate this piece for a music review article in Amelia’s Magazine about the newly released album from The Lost Calvary. I was to listen to the album and create an illustration using hand-drawn typography inspired by their lyrics. Their music has folksy feel and the narratives often have a nautical theme. I really connected with this lyric, “pushed to far from home,” and tried to capture the nostalgia and feelings of longing that the lyric elicits. You can read the music review here, and check out The Lost Calvary’s music here!
